About NTC Foundation

From Naval Training Center to ARTS DISTRICT

More than a decade ago, we embarked on an unprecedented opportunity for San Diego to create ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station, a significant new flagship destination for arts and culture at the former Naval Training Center San Diego in Point Loma. This new mission to create a significant legacy for the community is being realized. Just as the 1915 Panama–California Exposition helped establish the jewel of Balboa Park, a burgeoning hub for life and culture continues to grow into a premier gathering place for visitors and locals alike.

NTC Foundation was established in 2000 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to enrich the lives of San Diegans by renovating this signature community asset and creating, facilitating, and operating ARTS DISTRICT as a 100-acre creative district. Visitors experience the arts, culture, creativity, and cuisine that are the hallmarks of the San Diego region and enjoy innovative experiences in a historic setting at Liberty Station that inspire lives for generations to come.

Thanks to community and donor support, NTC Foundation is working to advance ARTS DISTRICT to be (1) a center for arts, culture, and creativity that offers innovative experiences to both residents and visitors, (2) a creative hub for San Diego’s nonprofits and artists, (3) a dynamic destination for children and families, and (4) a historical showcase that honors the city’s Navy heritage.

Our Mission

To enrich the lives of San Diegans by renovating 26  historic buildings at the former Naval Training Center to create, facilitate and operate a broad-based complex focused on experiencing the arts, culture and creativity that are the hallmark of the San Diego region.

Our Vision

Provide dynamic opportunities for the community and region to benefit from a physically vibrant, historic and inspiring campus by advancing the ARTS DISTRICT to be a leading international destination that nurtures, convenes and showcases discourse, excellence and diversity in arts, culture and creativity.
