Summer camps at ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station are where kids can get creative. Camps feature music, dance, theater, creative writing, hands-on art-making, photography, and more, all in Liberty Station’s park-like setting. There’s even a camp for junior Rock ‘n Rollers!
Kids can explore and discover new skills in San Diego’s growing ARTS DISTRICT. Beat the summer boredom with a fun-filled, upbeat, and lively experiences!
Starting in May, classes and workshops presented by 13 professional arts organizations throughout the creative campus are ideal for families looking for creative experiences for their children ages 4–17.

SR CAMPS: AGES 8-14 / 9AM-12PM / MONDAY-FRIDAY
3-hour (per day) art camps designed to challenge this age group and help bring them to a new drawing skill level. Each week of camp will consist of several art projects based upon a specific theme and will incorporate a variety of drawing techniques and art mediums.
JR CAMPS: AGES 4-7 / 1PM-3PM / MONDAY-FRIDAY
2-hour (per day) art camps where younger students will learn drawing fundamentals and explore a variety of art materials. This is a perfect environment for little artists to develop confidence, focus and fine-motor skills. Each week of camp will consist of art projects based upon a specific theme.
Fun Based and Enrichment Camp
San Diego is home to talented dancers, choreographers, and teachers – many who began their career by attending San Diego Dance Theater’s Summer Modern Dance Workshop. With eleven teachers to train from in a variety of dance styles, the summer workshop is a gateway into the dance community in San Diego. Workshop and performance are located at ARTS DISTRICT Liberty Station in Point Loma and classes take place at Dance Place San Diego and White Box Live Arts. Liberty Station is only minutes from the beach with state-of-the-art studios, dressing rooms, showers, and much more. Housing available for out of town guests.
Little Rockers Summer Camp is the perfect introductory camp experience for our youngest music-lovers. Campers will participate in making music in a nurturing and engaging environment while developing an understanding of the concepts of beat, pitch and rhythm. Our instructors will provide a full range of playful, educational selections of movement activities, high-energy games, arts and crafts, story times, entertaining songs, and hands-on instrument experience that will keep them movin’ and groovin’ all week long.
Junior & Senior Rock Band Summer Camp Be a rock star for a week! Rock Band Camp offers a sophisticated band experience for elementary through middle school students. No prior music experience necessary. Designed with a low student-to-staff ratio, campers learn the fundamentals of reading musical notation and charts. Through hands-on experience, campers will receive piano, guitar, drums, vocals and music theory to gain the skills necessary to play in a band with other musicians.
FX Dojo Summer Design Camp: Welcome to the only classes in San Diego where students can learn Computer Animation and Game Design using a combination of OPEN SOURCE software. These unique 4-hour workshops get kids and teens acquainted with 2D and 3D Animation, as well as Digital Painting and Illustration.
Summer Session: Students ages 3 – 17 who would like to explore different genres of dance in a recreational setting will love beginning level classes at The Malashock Dance School. Malashock also offers advanced classes for students looking to push their skills and abilities to the next level. All of our classes are designed to develop the physical and artistic skill set of our dancers. Classes are rooted in sound technical development, led by expert instructors who are working professional dancers and hold certifications and experience in codified modern techniques like Graham and Horton. Our instructors strive to give individualized attention and work to develop a positive dance environment. Classes include modern, ballet, jazz, and more!
KAMOCHI Method Performing Artist Intensive and Two Exciting Productions – This summer, at TAS+SD, we will be presenting Shakespeare’s ROMEO AND JULIET, QUEEN OF HEARTS, and a unique opportunity to study with Tony nominated Karine Plantadit and Michelle Camaya Julian (from Disney’s The Lion King on Broadway) in the KAMOCHI method for performing artists.

Our Kids Yoga Summer camps include a fun theme every week with Yoga, Art, Mindfulness Activities, Games, Face Painting & FUN! Our camps run for ages 3yrs old – 14yrs and we split up the classes accordingly. We have Half Days or Full days available.
Secret Life of Stuffies: What do stuffies do when they are home all day? Do they just sit on the bed and do nothing? Children’s author, Marcie Colleen lives with a mischievous sock monkey who is the inspiration for many of her stories. Using her own unique writing process, Marcie will guide campers step-by-step in developing ideas and inspiring silly adventures starring their own stuffed friends. The week will end with a special Story Time where campers share their completed books. Stuffed friends are invited. Creative Writing: Want to write more (and better) this summer? Staffers Kristen Fogle and Tia Meredith will utilize multi-sensory, timed writing prompts to kick-start your kids’ creativity! Campers will receive positive support from their peers and direct feedback from facilitators. Each day will also contain helpful talks on craft like plot, character, voice, structure, setting, and point of view. We look forward to writing with you!
Our camps are offered from June 24th to August 30th. ** There is no camp the week of July 4th, 2019. Each week has a different artistic theme and although our art program covers all forms of art, each week has a different focus like recycled materials, mixed media, etc. We offer 2 half day camps for children 3-5 years old. This is a great environment for children who are preparing to attend preschool in the Fall. The rest of our camps are full day camps from 9-2pm and are designed for children 5-10 years old. Our themes for Summer 2019 are: Sew Cool Camp, Build and Make Camp, Nature Art Camp, Imagination Camp, Jungle Camp, Storybook Camp, Under the sea Camp.
